Chat GPT Prompts for Digital Communications

AI was first introduced to me by my professor in copywriting back when I was studying advertising. It was much less sophisticated then, and honestly, I was like, yeah, okay, whatever.

Fast forward to 2023, and AI has quite literally grown before our eyes.

Like the little cousin, you haven’t seen in ages who now has a mustache. You ask yourself- when the heck did that happen?

So, what is ChatGPT

An article on zdnet by Sabrina Ortiz shares, “ChatGPT is a natural language processing tool driven by AI technology that allows you to have human-like conversations and much more with the chatbot. The language model can answer questions and assist you with tasks, such as composing emails, essays, and code.”

ChatGPT is just one of many Artificial Intelligence (AI) interfaces that create output when asked a question. Some other websites that use AI are Bing AI-powered copilot for the web and writing editing tools, including Grammarly and Hemingway Editor

Prompts for ChatGPT

Now that we have discussed ChatGPT, let’s look at some example prompts I will test! These are sourced from the website vibe.fyi, and edited for the best results.

Testing Prompts for Social Media Content Generation

(Please note the asterisks indicate the sections where you can change the values to fit your needs.)

Prompt 1: Rephrase the following *Remembrance Day* caption from the *province of Ontario* in a more *engaging* way for social media. Include *1-3* relevant hashtags:

For the following example, I use the social post from the Government of Ontario for Remembrance Day

ChatGPT inquiry- chat.openai.com

The Result:
ChatGPT generated a unique hashtag, #OntarioRemembers, which could be used on vast content for Remembrance Day from the Province of Ontario. It also gave the copy more visual language, ie. “Unite in a sea of poppies”.

The shortcomings are it needs to include content such as the link, the wrong flower was used (a rose, not a poppy), and the tone of voice needs a review.

Prompt 2: Shorten the following caption to 260 characters for Twitter, highlighting the most important *vaccine* information:

For the following example, I use the social post from the Government of Ontario for Vaccination reminders to residents.

ChatGPT inquiry- chat.openai.com

The Result:  Although the copy is slightly over the character count, ChatGPT significantly reduced the text and pulled out vital information to share. The text requires another edit, but the output provided a good start. This ChatGPT prompt would be an easy tool for when longer social text is drafted and you are in a pinch to reduce it.

Prompt 3: List the *top 2* creative ways to announce that *members of the Métis Nation of Ontario participated in a podcast discussing Indigenous Veterans Day*.

For the following example, I use the social post from the Métis Nation of Ontario, which features the release of a podcast including a citizen veteran.

The Result:
This prompt result took me by surprise! The suggestion of using teaser snippets and interacting with viewers via polls on social media was an insightful turn of events. A virtual roundtable would also be a fun extension of content that could offer a conversational approach for the speaker to engage with their audience.
